Non-Nicotine Drugs
 
There is a growing list of non-nicotine medications under investigation for tobacco use cessation. Some have been shown to be an effective means of helping a smoker quit, while others have not (Leischow & Cook, 1998).

Bupropion SR (Sustained-Release Bupropion) is currently the only non-nicotine medication approved by the FDA for use in the United States (Fiore et al., 2000).
